Campaign Studio
Campaign Studio is a five-step guided workflow that takes you from a business description to a complete, production-ready screenplay. No scriptwriting or filmmaking knowledge is required — the AI handles the creative work while you make the decisions.
Managing Campaigns
Creating a Campaign
-
Go to Campaign Studio (or click Dashboard in the navigation bar and use the New Campaign action).
-
Click New Campaign in the top-right corner of the campaign list. A chat panel opens with Knit, the campaign intake assistant.
-
Tell Knit about your business in plain language. Knit interviews you one question at a time, covering:
- What you sell — Your product or service, in concrete terms.
- Who it's for — Your target audience.
- What makes you different — Your unique selling points.
- Your goal — Knit maps it to one of the campaign objectives: Brand Awareness, Lead Generation, Product Sales, App Downloads, Event Promotion, Brand Loyalty, or Social Engagement.
You don't write the brief yourself — Knit synthesizes a high-quality business brief from your answers. If you already have a prepared description, paste it as your first message and Knit extracts everything it can before asking about gaps.
-
The Captured so far strip above the chat shows the campaign title, objective, and brief length as they're filled in.
-
When everything is captured, Knit presents a summary. Review it, ask for tweaks if needed, then click Create Campaign & Start to create the campaign and begin the workflow.
Viewing and Resuming Campaigns
Your campaign list shows all your campaigns as cards. Each card displays the title, objective, what step it's on, and how many loglines and screenplays have been generated. Click any card to pick up where you left off.
The Dashboard also surfaces your six most recent campaigns at the top of the page for quick access.
Deleting a Campaign
Hover over a campaign card and click the delete icon that appears. You'll be asked to type the campaign title to confirm. Deleting a campaign also removes any Film Production projects linked to its screenplays.
The Five Steps
Step 1: Brief
This step shows the business brief and campaign objective captured when the campaign was created, with the same Knit chat below for refinements. Instead of editing a wall of text by hand, tell Knit what to change — for example, "make it more premium and target new parents" — and it rewrites the brief for you.
If the brief already looks good, click Continue to Brand Assets to move on — nothing is saved or reset. If you make changes, the button becomes Save & Continue to Brand Assets, and saving resets downstream work (genres, loglines, screenplays) so the outputs stay aligned with the new brief. Make significant changes early.
Step 2: Brand Assets
Upload optional campaign-level brand assets before ideation starts. The AI uses these as visual references when generating shots — for example, placing your real product or logo into key frames.
You can add up to 10 assets total across three lanes:
- Logo — 1 max, PNG/JPG/WEBP up to 10 MB. Minimum 300×300 pixels (auto-expanded to 350×350 if smaller).
- Products — 5 max, PNG/JPG/WEBP up to 10 MB each. Same minimum dimensions as logos.
- Clips — 4 max, MP4/MOV/WEBM/MKV up to 100 MB each. The first frame is extracted and used as the visual reference.
What to do:
- Upload files using drag-and-drop or the file picker in each lane.
- Add a description for each non-logo asset (minimum 20 characters). These descriptions tell the model when and how to place the asset in shots.
- Click Skip for now if you want to continue without assets.
You can return to this step later; changes only affect future screenplay and shot generations.
Pinning Recurring Cast
If you want the same people to star across every video in this campaign, expand Advanced: pin recurring characters at the bottom of this step ("For campaigns that reuse the same people across every video").
This opens the Recurring Cast picker, which lists the Character elements from your Library. Search by name and select the people you want to lock in. A "{count} pinned" badge shows how many are selected.
Once a campaign has recurring cast, those characters become a hard requirement for everything generated downstream:
- Loglines — Every logline must include all pinned cast members by exact name. The Loglines step shows a banner confirming this is enforced.
- Screenplays — Each story and screenplay must keep every pinned cast member by exact name as a main character (not a cameo or background mention). Generation is validated and will retry — or fail — if anyone is omitted or demoted.
- Film Production — Pinned characters reuse their saved Library looks automatically, so the generated visuals stay on-model without re-uploading references.
This is the way to guarantee a consistent ensemble — a brand mascot, a spokesperson, a family of characters — appears in every ad the campaign produces. Leave the section collapsed if you don't need it; pinning cast is entirely optional.
Step 3: Genre Selection
The AI reads your business brief and recommends 6 to 8 ad genres — creative styles that would work well for your product and goals. Each recommendation includes the genre name, a short description, and reasoning for why it was suggested.
What to do:
- Click on the genres that appeal to you. Selected genres are highlighted in cyan.
- You must select at least one genre, but you can pick as many as you like. More genres produce more storyline variety in the next step.
- If the recommendations don't feel right, click Regenerate genres at the bottom-left to get a fresh set.
- Click Continue with X genres when you're happy.
Tip: Selecting 2–4 genres gives you good variety without being overwhelming.
Step 4: Loglines
For each genre you selected, the AI generates 5 logline concepts — short storyline pitches for your ad. If you selected 3 genres, you'll see up to 15 loglines.
Generation happens in the background, with live progress for each genre. Loglines appear grouped by genre. Each card shows a concept title, the one-line storyline, a concept summary, tone tags (like "Comedic" or "Inspirational"), and an estimated duration.
What to do:
- Click on genre headers to expand or collapse each group.
- Click on logline cards to select the ones you want to turn into full screenplays.
- Loglines that already have a screenplay show a "Screenplay ready" badge.
- Click Generate X Screenplays when you've made your selections.
Tip: Start with 1–2 loglines. You can always come back and generate more screenplays later.
Step 5: Screenplays
Each selected logline is now expanded into a full, production-ready screenplay by the AI. Each screenplay includes characters, scenes, shots with camera directions, dialogue, and audio details.
Use Generate All Screenplays to start them all at once, or click Generate on individual cards. Each card shows real-time progress. Once complete, a checkmark appears and an Open in Film Production button lets you jump directly into the visual production phase.
If generation fails, click Retry on the card.
Behind the scenes: Each completed screenplay creates a Film Production project automatically. That project contains the full storyboard data that drives character, location, and shot generation in the next phase.
After Campaign Studio
Once a screenplay is generated, click Open in Film Production on the screenplay card. This takes you to the Film Production workflow where you'll configure output settings and generate visuals. See the Film Production guide for details.
You can return to Campaign Studio any time to generate more loglines or screenplays for the same campaign.
