Account & Credits
CookFlix uses a consumption-based credit system. You spend credits each time the system generates an image, video, or audio clip — no fixed seats, no minimums. This guide explains how to manage your account and credits.
Your Account Page
Click your name in the top-right of the navigation bar to open User Account. The page has two sections:
- Wallet summary — Your live credit metrics and a button to buy more credits.
- Credit Purchase History — A table of every credit purchase, with invoices and Stripe receipts you can open.
Understanding Your Wallet
The Wallet summary card shows four numbers:
- Available (green) — Credits you can use right now for new generations. This equals balance minus held credits.
- Balance (cyan) — Total credits in your wallet, including credits temporarily held by in-progress runs.
- Held (amber) — Credits reserved for generations in flight. They're released back to Available if generation fails, or captured into Spent on success.
- Spent MTD — Month-to-date total credits spent on successful charges.
Hover the small i icon next to any metric to see this explanation in-app.
The pill-shaped Wallet: N cr button in the navigation always shows your current Available balance and is a one-click shortcut to your wallet statement.
Buying Credits
There are two ways to buy more credits:
- Click Buy credits on the Wallet summary card on either the User Account or Wallet Statement page.
- Use the action surfaced on the Dashboard if you run low.
Each purchase is a single Stripe checkout session that instantly adds 2,000 credits to your wallet. After payment:
- You're redirected back to the dashboard with a success toast.
- The new credits appear in your Available balance immediately.
- An invoice and receipt become available in Credit Purchase History under your User Account.
If a checkout is cancelled or fails, the dashboard shows a toast explaining why (missing session, payment not confirmed, invoice generation failed, etc.) so you can retry.
Wallet Statement
Click View statement on the Wallet summary card (or click the wallet pill in the navigation) to open the Wallet Statement page.
It has two parts:
- Recent credit transactions — Your three most recent transactions at a glance.
- Full wallet statement — A paginated table of every transaction (10 per page) with date, type, credit amount, balance after, and any note.
Transaction types you'll see:
- Initial grant — The free credits given to your account on signup.
- Admin top-up — Credits added by CookFlix support (e.g., bonus, refund).
- Generation debit — Credits charged for a successful generation. Shown in red with a minus sign.
- Stripe purchase — Credits added through a paid checkout. Shown in green with a plus sign.
Credit Costs in Practice
CookFlix charges per generation, so total cost depends on what you produce: number of characters, locations, shots, video lengths, regeneration retries, and language exports.
Rough rules of thumb (see Pricing for more):
- A fast social post uses very few credits.
- A polished 60–90 second hero cut typically lands under USD 10 in credits.
- Localized rollouts (15+ language exports) scale linearly with the number of variants.
Tips to control spend:
- Be specific in your business brief — better inputs mean fewer regenerations.
- Skip characters or locations that don't need visuals before generating.
- Generate the start frame first in shots and only generate video once it looks right.
- Reuse Library elements and brand assets instead of re-uploading per project.
